Italians Do It Better honour Madonna with a whale of a 12" green vinyl set. The collection dives under the covers, with a throng of contributors paying homage to their ultimate label muse and the lasting influence the pop primo holds. A standout moment arrives with 'Lucky Star' by Club Intl, produced by Max Kamins, the son of Mark Kamins, the NYC DJ pivotal in launching Madonna's career in the early 80s. There are many fresh reinterpretations too, rooted in dance and pop traditions, flagging out many songs we wouldn't've known *were* Madonna covers had it not been made explicit: from Sally Shapiro's breakout album hit 'Holiday' through to cover versions by the elusive Love Object and Farah.
